波士顿咨询公司(BCG)2008年4月15日发表报告称,一些快速发展经济体(RDEs)的本土大型公司正重新定义其国内竞争规则,这使得许多全球行业领导者的扩张计划受阻。
这份题为《BCG本土50强巨擘企业》的报告称,这些本土领先企业主要侧重于针对中产阶级的企业对消费者(B2C)市场,他们的收入增长超过了标准普尔500和《财富》全球100强,运营利润更高,且在过去四年中创造了更多的股东价值。
BCG认为,这些本土企业利用真正创新的业务模式,击败了两类竞争者——跨国公司和本土老牌企业(其中多数为国有企业)。
BCG按照专注于本土市场、非国有且无垄断特权等五项标准,从中国、印度、巴西等十个快速发展经济体选出了50家大型企业。它们分布在网络/高科技、零售、金融服务、娱乐/媒体、旅游、房地产、能源等各个行业。其中,制造业占40%,服务业占60%份额。
中国共有15家企业上榜,包括百度、万科、招商银行、携程、分众传媒、金风科技等。ICICI银行等11家印度公司入选,巴西有九家,墨西哥六家,俄罗斯三家。
“在筛选企业时,我们看重的是它们所采用的创新业务模式。”BCG大中华区主席麦维德表示,“之前,许多跨国公司错误地理解了快速发展经济体国家的独特性和复杂性,榜单中的大部分中国公司能够改变人们对于中国企业只擅于大规模生产廉价商品的观念。”
报告称,这些榜单上的本土企业之所以能取得成功,是因为它们能够适应本土的需求,设计出创新的业务模式。大多数企业都能够使用最新的技术,很好地利用低成本的劳动力并克服技术人才的短缺,这些企业通过快速扩大规模,保持长期超高速增长而不出现内耗,也使得他们能够击败外国竞争者,在本土的市场上占据领先的位置。
BCG新德里办公室合伙人Arindam Bhattacharya表示:“中国和印度是当今全球公司关注的热点增长市场,但西方公司正在错失这些市场迅猛增长的机遇。实际上,这些市场正被生机勃勃的本土企业占领。”
他认为,与其他快速发展的经济体公司不同,本土巨擘企业并未寻求走向国际化,而是在国内发展,至少目前是这样。这也就给跨国公司增加了新的内容。对于全球巨头来说,它们必须在很多地方同各种类型的企业进行竞争。
据BCG统计,这50家企业的总收入达到600亿美元,其平均环比增长率超过50%。
