Amid the greatest economic crisis Dachser began in 1930 to transport the popular cheeses of the Allgäu to the Rhineland. In 1934 the first branch office was already opened in Memmingen, in 1938 the opening of a branch in Neuss in the Rhineland took place. Dachser is at the forefront of transport companies in the Allgäu.
In the Second World War virtually all of the vehicles and driving staff were drawn in by the regime. All the branches were destroyed in the war. However shortly after the end of the war the business was already once more meeting with success. In 1949 the entry of "Thomas Dachser Spedition" in the commercial registry took place.
In the‘50s the great growth of the business began. At home a multitude of new branches were opened, by land, air and sea international traffic was accommodated. In 1951 the first air freight office was opened at Munich airport. By the end of the decade Dachser had over 1,000 employees, who generated more than 70 million DM of revenue.
In 1969 Dachser is a founder member of Kombiverkehr KG. The aim of the association is the linking of railway and road traffic. Among other things it is the purpose of the association to organise for its partners the transport of trucks and of swap bodies on the railway. This is also a reason why, by 1971, Dachser had converted its entire fleet to swap bodies. The chosen overall dimensions for the exchangeable carriers were also adopted by other manufacturers and transport companies and so became the standard within the industry.
In 1979 Thomas Dachser the founder of the firm died. The shares in the company were taken over by his two daughters.
In 1982 Dachser offered its customers warehousing and transport for temperature sensitive food. It originated the new business domain Dachser Food Logistics.
In 1994 Dachser introduced for package identification the SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code). The barcode thus established itself in the whole of transport-logistics as the unique identification number. In 1999 Dachser bought the French logistics service provider Graveleau and expanded its network in Europe and North Africa.
The first years of the new century are entirely dedicated to the expansion in Asia, Europe and the USA.
