在雅思英语写作中，经常用于表示怀疑的两个英语词汇是doubt和suspect。这两个单词，虽然中文意思一样，但表达的含义却截然相反。
请看下面两句话：
Idoubt（怀疑）that he will win the game.Isuspect（怀疑）that he will win the game.
两句话的意思有区别吗？别急着下结论。
先看看下面对两个单词的英文解释。有时候，单词的英文解释，可比中文解释通透的多。
doubt:to think that something is not probable 认为某事情不可能发生suspect: to think that something to be true or probable 认为某事情是真的或可能的
怎么样，意思是否截然相反。
因此上面第1句话（doubt）怀疑他不可能赢得比赛。第2句话（suspect），则是怀疑他有可能赢得比赛。

doubt 的英文解释有2层含义：
to not feel certain or confident about something 对某事不确定，或没有信心to think that something is not probable 认为某事不可能发生在肯定句中，doubt后面接whether/if时，其含义是对某事不确定，或没有信心，而当doubt后面接that时，意思是认为不可能发生。注意：在否定句中，doubt后面不能接whether或if
因此：
I doubtwhether/ifI can finish the work on time. 我对自己能否按时完成这项工作没有信心（我不确定）。I doubtthatI can finish the work on time. 我认为我无法按时完成这项工作（我很确定）。
