重要词汇condition用法要点
1. 在in+a.+condition这类结构中，表示……情况、状态，形容词前有时带不定冠词，有时不带不定冠词，大致原则是：若是笼统地说某种情况好或不好，则通常不用冠词，如：
in good (excellent, perfect, favourable, first class, top, bad, poor, etc) condition
若具体地描述某种情况是如何地好或如何地不好，则通常用不定冠词，如：
in a serious condition 情况严重
in an undecided condition 悬而未决的状态
但有些情况下用不用不定冠词均可。如：
The patient was in (a) critical condition. 病人的情况十分危急。
2. 有形容词修饰的in condition相当于in good condition，其意为（健康）状况良好，其反义结构是out of condition，相当于 in bad condition，其意为健康欠佳。
3. 示环境情况等，习惯上要用复数，表示在…情况（环境）下，其前可用介词in或under。如：
He was brought up in [under] very difficult conditions. 他在极其困难的境况下长大。
4. 表示以……为条件时，其前通常接介词on。如：
You may go only on certain conditions. 你只有在一定条件下才能去。
5. 习语on condition that表示条件，相当于 (only) if，其后接that从句的谓语通常用一般现在时表示将来意义，但在正式文体中可用（should+）动词原形。如：
She will join us on condition that you also be there.
她和我们一起去，条件是你也将在场。
You can use the bicycle on condition that you return it tomorrow.
只要你明天归还，自行车你可以拿去用。
On condition that you sign this receipt, I will pay the money.
你在收据上签字，我就付款。
I will go abroad on condition that my husband goes with me.
如果我丈夫能和我一起去，我就出国。
He can use the bicycle upon condition that he returns [(should) return] it tomorrow. 自行车可以借给他，条件是明天必须归还。
He spoke to reporters on condition that he was not identified.
在不披露身份的条件下，他接受了记者的采访。
I will grant you pardon, on condition that you help me solve a terrible problem.
我愿意饶恕你，但是你要帮助我解决一个十分棘手的问题。
I said I would tell him a confidential story on condition that he kept it secret.
